I would like to thank you for hosting me for the next 10 months. I hope that this letter will help you know me better!
I am Anh, and I come from Vietnam. I live with my parents in a small and peaceful city in the south. My father is an engineer while my mother is a salesclerk. I have one elder brother who is five years older than me and he is now studying at university in Russia. My family members love each other a lot and though we are all busy with our own tasks at works and schools, we try to spend time for family as much as possible!
Turning next to my study, I am currently in one of the most reputable high school in my province. At school, I enjoy studying social science subjects such as History and Geography, but overall, my study result is quite good and I am always in the top ten students of my class. I also love studying foreign languages, especially English. Last year, I took part in a provincial English contest for high school student and I got the 4th prize! I also study French at school but I still not made any great progress. And I have been study Korean for less than a year but I am not very bad at it!
As for my work experience, this summer, I worked as a leaflet distributor and also as a waitress who serves table at a wedding. Those jobs were tiring but they gave me a lot of valuable lessons. At the moment, I am a member of Development Teams of 2 non-profit organizations for the Youth in my city: one which is dedicated to solving environment problems in our province and the other which was founded to send help to disadvantaged people in our city. Working in both organizations gave me a lot of experiences to be more mature, independent and organized. Besides doing my homework and preparing new events for organizations, I am just a typical teenager girl who love singing and playing board games with my friends. My favorite types of music are acoustic and ballad. I also enjoy reading books that encourage and motivate me to do better in my life. My family and friends think about me as an active and optimistic person, but I think I am also quite sensitive and shy to strangers. Also, I am a member of my school’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and singing club. I take part in a lot of extra-curricular activities such as playing for my class handball team and leading many of class’s art performing activities.
Throughout my ten months journey in the US, I hope to improve my English skills and make new friends from all around the world to exchange culture. I also want to experience the Western learning environment to be more independent and overcome my difficulties by myself. I would like to join in the traditional festivals of the USA and try the local foods, too.
I guess that is enough about me for now! Once again, thank you for your huge hospitality and I am looking forward to being part of your community and learning new things from this experience.
