LETTER FROM Anmol

Anmol

Dear host family,

thank you first of all for the time you’ve chosen to spend reading my presentation letter.

My name is Anmol, I am 16 years old (17 when I will be in the US). I live in Italy, in a beautiful city on the coast. I really like my city, it is not very big and is located on the Tuscany coast, here it is easy to find stores, clothing chains, cafés and much more.

In my free time I like to go to the Mascagni terrace, a big terrace with a checkerboard floor, which is on the beach and overlooks the sea.

It is easy to get to know all the people living here, since my city is not that small, but quietly habitable. I often use bus as a means of transportation to get around the city (being a small town we don’t have metro).

My home is in the city center, so I am close to tourist attractions, but I like to get to some areas or neighborhoods outside my city.

We also have a neighborhood very populated by young people, where I often go with my friends, there are also many cafés and outdoor parties with good music.

From the city the harbor, ships also leave for nearby islands like the island of Capraia where I go sometimes with my friends in the summer by taking a ship and after two and a half hours we arrive. When it is warm enough, I like to go swimming there.

In my spare time I love to travel around the city, visit museums, go to watch movies, hang out with friends, go to the beach, have dinner on the beach. I really enjoy going to the park to study, with the sounds of nature in the background.

In my school in Italy I study Graphics, a very interesting subject, I have learned many things, which I also use in everyday life. I also really like my school building and its library where I spend my free hours.

My family consists of my mom, dad and my two cats, who give me a lot of love.

I really enjoy being with my family, hiking together, going to the beach or mountains, and why not, traveling around the world. With my family I travel a lot and enjoy spending time with them.

I am a cheerful, smiling and generous person who loves to discover new things and activities, from food to sports. I like to share different opinions by listening, interacting and putting myself out there whenever possible.

In other words, I always love to challenge myself: for example, being a volunteer is one of my favorite hobbies. I have been a member of the Italian Red Cross for one year and have already earned some certificates: basic and advanced emergency rescue, managing the homeless, social work and project management.

Thanks to my integration skills, youth group management, and sharing spirit, I am locally the coordinator of youth activities, which is a great achievement for me. I give my support almost every day as a substitute caregiver, including weekends. I am also a volunteer with the Community of SANT’EGIDIO, an organization that helps people in need.

I have been a Boy Scout for seven years with CNGEI (National Corps of Italian Young Explorers and Girl Scouts) and I am happy to continue my education based on respect and sharing experiences.

I do not currently play any sports, but I have been a baseball player and also an athlete.

I am a dynamic person who loves to travel alone or in groups; I have taken many study vacations where I learned and improved my problem solving aptitude, including using a foreign language.

Regarding this new experience in the US, I don’t want to set or imagine any specific goal in advance, but I expect to discover a little more about myself in a new culture and a new land, as well as discovering new habits and new traditions.

Thank you for reading and hope you enjoyed it!

Best regards,

Anmol
