First of all I would like to say thank you for reading this letter, I am really glad that you want to give me the chance to live at your family and letting my dream of being an exchange student become reality. Now I will tell you something about me, so you can get to know me a little bit better.
My name is Chiara in a village in the south of Germany. My family which included my mum, my dad and myself are living here in our own house. My mum is a medical assistent, my dad works as a costums officer. We don’t have pets, but I wish we had.
My school is in a small town. I have to got to school by bus every day but it takes only 20 minutes. I am in a grammer school with 700 students. I chose the natural science Department and I like that, because my favorite subjects are biology and chemistry. I am also in our school choir since 5 years.
If I am not at school I have swim training and also help with swim courses for kids. There is a lot of homework to do, so there is usually no time for meeting friends. But on the weekends and holidays I like it to go shopping, dancing (tango, waltz, foxtrott) or go to the movie theatre with my friends or just hang out at home watching movies or series or reading a book. I also enjoy playing badminton and volleyball. My other interests are scuba diving, skiing, travelling, decorating for Halloween and Christmas and cooking (I am not an expert but I hope we can cook something together, maybe a typical German meal :)) But what I love the most is the water, no matter if it’s an ocean, a lake or a public pool.
I started thinking about an exchange year 4 years ago, because I want/need to improve my English. But an exchange year is so much more. I think it’s a unique experience, I will learn more about the American culture and I want to live the life of a typical American teenager, to go to high school and experience the notorious high school spirit. I also would love to watch a football and baseball game with you.
I would be super happy to get the chance to live in an American family (hopefully yours) and to study abroad.
I am very excited to meet you 🙂
