LETTER FROM Hoi

Hoi

Hello! My name is Ocean and I am currently 14 years old. I currently study in grade 9 in my secondary school. I live with both my parents in Hong Kong, and I am the only child in the family. I have always wondered what it is like to have a sibling in the family. Our family used to have a cat when I was younger for a very long time. However the cat had passed away when it was 18 years old. It had lived a very long and happy life and we miss it very much. We haven’t had a pet since that. My family loves pets, especially cats.

In study, my favorite and best subject in school is mathematics. I like logical thinking and I think math is very interesting to me, which is why I love it so much. I won the “First in Subject Award (Mathematics)” for the last two consecutive years in school. I always attend to some Mathematics contest such as Asia International Mathematical Olympiad Open contest and getting rewarded results. I may not win every time but I enjoy the journey of participating in it.

I have many hobbies in sports such as rugby, swimming, dodgebee, high jump, long jump and hurdles. I have won some medals in swimming, high jump and long jump in my school’s sports day and intra-school competition. I like to do sports because I like to exercise my muscles and move around. I think sweating is the best medicine for stress. Whenever I am stuck in a subject that I do not understand in class, I always go for a swim to clear my head and it works every time! In leisure time, I like watching anime, playing board games and building legos. Me and my family also like going out to dinner and try new restaurants to find yummy food!

I have heard about this high school exchange program through a friend and I was very interested in it. Unfortunately, I was not old enough to join when I first heard about it and I finally have the chance to participate in it now, and I am very excited! I want to develop a lifelong relationship with my future host family and friends in school. I believe these relationships will be very meaningful and will last a life time. I am also excited to learn about a new culture and able to see things from a different perspective. Broadening my horizons will allow me to become more independent and mature as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and I hope to see you soon. Have a great day!

Ocean
