Hello, my name is Iria and I would like to introduce myself, starting by talking to you about what I am passionate about and defines me.

Since I was little, I have felt great love and respect for animals. There have always been dogs in my family. At this moment, I live with my mother, her partner and our five dogs adopted from different animal shelters. Their names are: Ary, Lua, Canela, Dana and Oreo. Being surrounded by these pure souls has made me evolve as a person and realize how much I enjoy taking care of them. So much so, that I hope to be able to dedicate myself to Marine Biology, where, in addition to living with living beings as splendid as those that live in the deep sea, I will be able to dedicate myself to studying something that I am passionate about: the sea.

Literature, the great love of my life, is something that cannot be missing from this very special letter. The love I feel for books and the passion I feel for poetry is truly indescribable, and I never miss the opportunity to enjoy them. Literature came to me like a lifeboat to a shipwrecked person, and it has become one of the pillars of my happiness. This love I feel for books is something that, luckily, I can share with my family and friends who enjoy visiting bookstores or libraries with me and discussing books, authors, or simply enjoying our company. Speaking of authors, I have a fondness for Emily Dickinson, Dostoyveski and the Bronte sisters. I really enjoy Emily’s poems and exciting life.

I can’t stop mentioning the importance of sports in my life. Likewise, I practice climbing, diving, volleyball and weightlifting. This last one has been like a shot of self-esteem. I train five days a week in the gym, where I release the stress of the day and breathe peace.

Music also occupies a very important place. I like classical music, jazz and pop, with Billie Eilish being my favorite singer. My passion for music is not limited to simply listening to it, but also to playing it on my piano, thanks to which I have also met friends.

I am lucky to have friends with hobbies similar to mine. We usually meet to visit bookstores and get lost among the thousands of stories hidden there; in cinema, for which I feel a great passion (my favorite films are “The World to Come”, “La La Land” and “Portrait of a Woman on Fire”); or in parks where we hold the closest volleyball games.

I would like to talk about my family, especially about my mother. I lost my father when I was 3 years old, and my mother has tried very hard to give me an education based on respect and love, both for others and for oneself. Thanks to her, I have become an empathetic person, who likes to help others. There is a very special date for me, which is Christmas with my family. It is the moment when all my loved ones come together (I am still lucky to have my maternal grandparents by my side, whom I adore) to enjoy the most magical holidays, where we find the perfect excuse to show our love, not only with gifts but also eating the most delicious dishes, and where excitement fills the atmosphere. My entire family is looking forward to these exciting dates with great impatience, and I am not the exception, but rather the pinnacle of it.

My mother also taught me the importance of effort and preparation. I find in learning a safe place and a path that will open many doors for me, just like this experience from which I hope to learn and experience new things.

Regarding my character, I am a very perfectionist and organized person, especially in studies. I do not like to label any of these aspects as virtues or defects, since they can, in my opinion, be considered both.

I love the learning process, and I work hard to see this love reflected in my academic results. Furthermore, I find the task of studying very rewarding and enjoyable, as well as spending time with my family and friends.

Finally and to finish, I would like to tell you some things that, despite not being as important as those already mentioned, I consider essential to know myself: my favorite food is soup, although I also love salad; I enjoy hiking alone or in company; I love the Game of Thrones series and I really like learning scenes and dialogues from my favorite movies and series; I write poetry and draw; I love classical Literature, History, going to the theater and visiting museums and exhibitions.
