Dear future host family,

My name is Jette and i am 15 years old. I would love to do an exchange year in the USA because i want to learn something about the American culture, there traditions and in general how the Americans live. I also would really enjoy doing fun activities with my host family like i do with my family in Germany.

My family i live with consist of four people and one dog. My Dad, my mom, my older brother and of course me and our dog Sammy. My Dad´s name is Alexander, he is a engineer and owns his own company. His favorite hobbies are probably sailing, travelling, skiing and running. My Mom´s name is Claudia; she has a diploma in business administration and therefore she works for my dad. Her favorite hobbies are yoga, travelling, cooking and skiing. My older Brother´s name is Ole; he is 19 years old and at the moment he does a work and travel year in New Zealand. His favorite hobbies are tennis and skiing. Our dog, Sammy, is 10 years old and a small and quite dog.

For myself, I would say that i am very opened-minded, friendly, cheerful and caring. I am also very social, I love to be surrounded by people, help people and give good advice. I always see the positive side in everything and never give up.

In the past i had a lot of hobby´s because i love to try new things. But right now i am only doing track and field and gymnastics. Another hobby i do since i am 3 years old is skiing. I love to go on ski vacation with my whole family in winter season. Other hobbies are shopping, meeting with all my friends and doing fun activities with my family. The most beautiful time of the year are vacations because we are travelling al lot in our school holidays. I already visit fourteen country’s including America. So travelling is a huge part of me, and my goal is it to travel around the whole world.

Our family traditions are our Christmas dinner, which is called, ham in bourgogne sauce with potatoes and probably our family vacation in every holiday we have except Christmas holidays. In general, my favorite foods are noodles, schnitzel with fries and sushi.

My hopes for my exchange year are that i will have a great time with my host families, find some new friends and just experience the typical teenager life in America. I also have the hopes that my host family will show me their culture, hobby´s and traditions so in return I also can show them our culture and traditions.
