Dear guest family,

My name is Leonard and I am from Germany. I am really looking forward to participating in a year abroad in the USA and getting to know you. First of all, I would like to introduce myself.

I am 15 years old and in the 10th grade at a high school. When I come to you I will be 16 years old. I live near a big city with my parents and my younger brother. We have two cats and a big dog, with whom I spend a lot of time and go for walks every day. We also have a big aquarium with lots of fish.

In my free time I like to do sports. I play handball and soccer in a club and have training twice a week. On weekends we regularly have point games and play against other teams. At the end of the year I’m going to Sweden with my handball team to an international tournament, which I’m looking forward to. I also enjoy meeting up with my friends. We ride bikes together, meet at the youth club, cook together, play basketball, table soccer or billiards and listen to music.

The USA has fascinated me for a very long time and I can’t wait to get to know your country and the culture. My mother lived and worked in the USA for half a year a few years ago and told me a lot about your country. Therefore, it was clear to me early on that I would like to live there myself for a longer period of time as soon as possible in order to get to know your country and the culture. The warm hospitality of the USA was also a decisive point for me to decide for an exchange year in the States. I can’t wait to meet you, make new friends and new hobbies. I am open to everything and of course willing to do my part in the household and adapt to your routine.
