LETTER FROM Lukas

Lukas

Hello future host family!

I’m Lukas, a 16-year-old boy from Germany. I’m really looking forward to spending half a year in the USA, getting to know the culture, and meeting all of you. But first, let me tell you a bit about myself.

I’m determined and ambitious, both academically and athletically. I enjoy going to the gym and have been passionately playing basketball for a little over 3 years. Before that, I spent a long time playing table tennis and soccer. That’s why I’m also a part of the table tennis and basketball teams at our school, participating regularly in competitions.

I’m also interested in computer science, and our school excels in that. A few years ago, we secured the 2nd place in the Robot Soccer World Championship. Thanks to my performance in computer science, I got an internship with the team developing AI for Teslas, starting at the beginning of the year.

Last year, a friend and I participated in a simulated stock market game, where we were quite successful and even won a cash prize.

Through these experiences, especially in team sports, I’ve learned how to integrate well into teams and work together effectively.

Apart from my sports and academic activities, I also enjoy woodworking in my free time. For instance, I recently built a new desk from beams of our old roof. I often assist my father in the garden, which brings me closer to my family.

I have two sisters, Lara and Eva, an older brother, Alex, and my parents are Helga and Udo.

Eva, at 13, is the youngest among us. She’s particularly enthusiastic about horseback riding and very energetic.

My older sister, Lara, is 20 years old and is currently doing a year abroad in Istanbul for her architecture studies.

My older brother, Alex, is 22 years old and has been researching in the field of medical technology at a renowned university in the USA since completing his master’s. Next summer, he plans to intern at one of the investment banks in New York. I’m especially fascinated and inspired by my brother, as he always strives to further improve himself.

My mother professionally manages real estate and takes care of the majority of the household, while my father is the CEO of a bank. As I mentioned before, when he’s not working, he’s passionately involved in gardening. I often help him with his significant projects, as I mentioned earlier. When I live with you in the USA, I’ll certainly continue to help with household chores:).

I’m really looking forward to getting to know all of you and the exciting adventures we’ll have together!

Best regards,

Lukas
