| Hello I’m Maialen. I live in a small town in the north of Spain. I live with my family: my mum, my dad and my older sister. I’d say we get along very well and I love spending time with them. We normally spend our time playing board games or simply talking about each other’s day. The person I spend the most time with is my sister. We get along really well because we have very similar interests. Right now we are planning a movie night where we’ll prepare food and watch movies. I really like spending time with my extended family: uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents… That is why I really enjoy Christmas. It is the time of year when I get to be with all of them. One thing about me is I love making new friends, so I think of myself as a a pretty extroverted person. I do however enjoy my alone time, when I’m at peace with myself. I love learning about new things and I’m very curious. I try to be positive most of the time as well as empathetic. Also, I try to be as loving as possible with those who surround me. Another thing about me is that I’m very determined in the decisions I want to make. This could be good but it also could be bad. Sometimes I make my decision before seeing the situation from other perspectives. I try to better myself on this topic every day. I have a lot of interests and hobbies. I love playing the guitar, baking, reading… I try to pursue them as much as I can. Every year in New Year’s eve I bake a cake for my family. This year I made it cinnamon and apple flavoured. I also enjoy other things like: singing, hanging out with friends, drawing… One of the activities I’m most passionate about is travelling. This past year I’ve been to England and Germany and I hope to find a job that allows me to travel in the future. Sports wise I’ve done basketball and swimming in the past. Also, I have always wanted to do ice-skating as a sport but there’s nowhere to do it in my town. Lastly, even though I have only skiied once in my life I really loved it. Christmas is the time of year I like the most because I love the Christmas activities like: baking cookies, decorating the tree, watching the town’s parade… There’s also something magical in the environment in Christmas. Apart from Christmas I also like other celebrations such as: Easter, Valentine’s day, Halloween… Food wise I prefer salty things even though I love to bake. My favourite foods are either pizza or my grandma’s rice. My purpose is to better myself as a person from this experience. Gain new perspectives and learn new cultures. Also, I hope to make tons of new friends and to live tons of new experiences. Another one of my intentions is to bring something good to other’s lifes and I hope I can make this an unforgettable experience, This was my dream since I was little and I’m aware that I should be grateful for this experience and that I should make the most of it, Thank you so much for reading this letter and for considering taking me in.
