Hi there!

This is Mariana, reporting from our holidays in Mexico. I’m a 15 year old teen who was born in Mexico. I have lived in Mexico, USA and I’m currently living in Spain, where we’ve been for 5 years. I’m a fun person, I love to laugh and I’m very sarcastic, but when needed I am mature and serious. I don’t think I’m either introverted or extroverted, and the first impression of me might be that I’m shy but I open up quickly, so don’t worry. I’m very creative and sometimes a little bit perfectionist. It’s hard to make me angry, I’m a pacific person.

I’m an artsy person who is interested in literature, music and cinema. Regarding music, I love rock and indie (in English and Spanish). Some of my favorite artists are Soda Stereo, Mitski, Bowie, The Cure. About literature, I read science fiction. The last books that I read were “1984” and “Brave new world”, they we’re crazy! And now, movies. I absolutely love movies. I wait for the weekends to watch one. I really don’t know when this love started, but it’s my best discovery. My favorite films are Gueros (a Mexican movie), Fantastic Mr. Fox and Dead Poets Society. Referring to my food tastes, I’m not a picky eater. I absolutely love all kinds of Mexican food, Asian food, pizza, a lot of things. My favorite holidays are Halloween and The Day of the Dead. We don’t have a lot of family traditions, but if I had to choose one, it would be watching movies together on Sundays, when my family tell me to put the weird movies that I like. I am not a sporty person, but it’s fun to play almost every sport.

My family is composed by 6 members: me, my parents, my brother and our two dogs. My parents are Mariana and Alex. My mom is Mexican and my dad is Spanish. They are very fun people. My brother Luca is 13 years old. He is very smart and we’re very close, I love him very much. Our dogs are named Mora and Bigotes. They’ve been with us through all the changes that have happened in our lives. They are 8 & 10 years. I love to spend time with my family. How we spend time is for example, we play board games (even though my dad doesn’t like it sometimes), we also go to the cinema, we have travelled around Spain and Mexico and have gone camping. We also watch movies on Sundays. I think I have a fun family, we laugh a lot especially with my mom, until our stomachs hurt.

I think this opportunity is extremely cool. It’s a one-time experience that I’m willing to enjoy as much as I can, and I want to know how it feels to be far from home. I also would love to make friends from other countries and see the differences that USA has with other countries. I also hope that I get along with you as we’re going to be together for a long time! I’m very excited to meet you!
