LETTER FROM Martina

Martina

Dear future host family,

Hello, my name is Martina, and I am so excited to be part of your family for a while and experience life in the United States. I am going to tell you about myself and who I am.

I come from a family of six members. My mother, Mónica, and my father, Martí. I have three brothers: Biel, who is 16 years old, Jan, who is 11 years old, and Marc, who is 7 years old. We share our home with Nuna, my energetic 3-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer which I take out every day in the afternoon. I am the second sister of four siblings, and I am 14 years old, standing at 1.63 meters. I have green eyes, freckles on my nose, and long wavy brown hair.

I have been practicing competitive skiing since I was three, and I love sports. Over the years, I have tried various sports like skating, basketball, swimming, horseback riding, tennis, roller skating… I am also passionate about animals and enjoy spending time with young children. Cooking is another interest of mine. While I don’t cook too often, when I do, I have a great time, especially when making desserts. I really like reading, and to get lost in books.

I find volunteering very rewarding; I participate in a program called “Servir Més” at my school, and I’m also part of the “xarxa jove.I started at a place called “Xarxa Jove.” Xarxa Jove works to make life better for us. Besides that, I’ve been doing some volunteer stuff too, like helping in equestrian centers, babysitting for kids, and I’m the “Magis delegate” at school. That means I’m in charge of organizing donations, doing solidarity, and planning all sorts of activities to help out. Additionally, I’ve volunteered caring for elderly in residences and in a forest for the environment. Regarding my personality, I am proactive, outgoing, fun-loving, self-demanding and responsible. However, at times, I can be a bit stubborn and clueless.

I am passionate about learning new things, especially languages. I learned Italian on my own in just one year, and I have been studying French for three years at school and English for nine years. This is one of the reasons I am so excited about this unique opportunity to immerse myself in your country, learn the language, and experience the culture. I truly appreciate that your family is hosting without any personal gain. This experience is essential for me as it will greatly benefit my future and allow me to communicate around the world, given that English is an international language.

See you soon!

Martina
