| Dear host family, My name is Mathys and I’m from France. I speak French and I learn English and Italian at school. I live in a house with my two parents, my little brother and my two beautiful cats. I love all animals, but especially cats, horses and dogs. I’m lucky to be part of a big family, including my great grandparents, my grandparents, aunts and uncles and of course my little cousins. We are pretty close and see each other regularly. We even travel together, which is so much fun. As you can see, family is very important to me, that’s why I can’t wait to be part of yours for the year. I also care deeply for my friends, I like spending time with them. We often go to the movies, to the museum or we enjoy some sports together, especially basketball ! My grandparents and my aunt love horse riding and own a few horses. They put me on a horse when I was 2 years-old and I enjoyed it for a few years. I’m very passionate about the underwater world. Last year, I was so lucky to pass my diving first level certificate in Mauritius. It was a beautiful experience that I shared with my grandmother. In winter time, I enjoy skiing and going to the mountain for two weeks. I like snow, but only for a few weeks during holidays. France’s main asset is the fact that we can go to the beach and to the mountain quite easily, so that I can ski during winter and dive during summer. I’m a curious and ambitious person, I love learning and discovering every single day. Don’t worry, I also have flaws, the opposite wouldn’t be fun. For example, my teachers tell me I talk a lot (maybe too much?), I ask a lot of questions (like a lot), I’m (too) curious … But all of that might be (a little) decreased by the language barriers. But no promises here. Oh, I can be a little clumsy too, but I like to think it’s because of my energy. I’m open-minded, that’s why I enjoy traveling and meeting new people, cultures and ways of life. The world is so wide, it makes me want to explore it all as soon as possible. That is one of the reasons I want to be part of this program, so that I can live in a true and authentic American family and learn more about high school . My main goal here is to fully commit to the every day routine and to this new culture. This is not just a cohabitation for me, it’s the development of a sincere and everlasting relationship. I look forward to celebrating main events with you, like Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween or Independence day. I also can’t wait to bring some French culture to you too. As you can see, I’m quite enthusiastic about this sharing of traditions and about learning about each-other. On an academic level, I am determined to be a great student and to make better use of this new education. I would love to learn new school subjects, and to be involved in after-school activities. Finally, this experience will allow me to learn how to speak better English, which will help me academically and for the rest of my life, during my future travels.
