Dear future host family,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself. I’m really looking forward to living with you during my exchange year.
My name is Soeren, I am 15 years old. I live with my parents and my older brother in a medium-size town. I attend year 10 at school.
Sports are essential to me. I have played soccer since I was about five years old. Soccer has always been important because I also support our local professional team. But I don’t only like soccer. I am a fan of many sports, for example, I also often watch NFL games with my mum and dad or formula 1 with my best friend.
Besides sports, music is a big part of my life. I play the guitar in a band, and I also enjoy singing. I almost always listen to music. Listening to music is calming and kind of gets me through the day.
I have many friends and I love spending time with them. When I meet with my two best friends, we mention everything crossing our minds. When we are not together, we play video games or talk online to keep ourselves up to date about what is going on in our lives.
I’ve wanted to do an exchange year for quite a while because I always wondered how life in foreign countries are like, and I really love speaking English. The USA has always fascinated me, and I love how the school system is presented in movies. My mother spent a year in the USA as an au pair when she was younger, so she is very supportive about me doing an
exchange year. I also would like to just live a different life for a year. I would be very to make many new experiences to grow on.
I hope to see many new things in the USA: I would like to go visit sights and get to know the American way of life. I am looking forward to finding new friends and maybe enrolling in the soccer or football team of my high school.
I would like to bring German food and traditions into your life because you will bring American traditions into mine.
I would consider myself as open-minded, friendly, and communicate with a good sense of humor, so I think I would fit great into your family, and I think we can have a good time together.
