Dear host family,

I’m very glad to write to you,my name is Veronica and I’m currently sixteen years old and. I’m a student and I’m attending a school were the main subjects are languages,in fact i study English,Spanish and German and i like it very much. I live in a small town with my parents,my sister and our cat named Pablo. Actually i have a really great bond with them,I have the luck to have parents that support me in everything I do and that are really present and I’m truly grateful of them,most of all my mother,she’s the most important person for me, she always encourages me to give my best and to believe in myself. Then I’m really happy with my sister, she is thirteen. We share our bedroom but it is big enough that we were able to make two spaces out of it. We love spending time together as friends,we love watching love movies or comedies and baking cakes for our grandparents. We have very different personalities and obviously sometimes there are small discussions but this is also what strengthens our relationship.

I’m an extroverted person and i really enjoy comparing my view with others,in addition I’m a lively and cheerful girl,in fact I always try to socialize even if at first when i am in a new situation I need a little bit of time to open up. I’ve been a smiley girl since i was little and best known as the funny friend who loves a good joke and a belly laugh, especially from my best friends,but i also know how to be serious and i love having deep conversation with people. I’m a comprehensive and generous person and i love be surrounded by people whose presence makes me feel happy. I am very sociable so in my class I feel great with everyone in fact right at school I met my current best friends. They are fundamental to me and i share with them much of my life.

I have a good relationship with school,i like studying and deepening my knowledge about different topics,most of all different cultures and countries’ history,in fact at school I get good results. In my opinion it is important to spend time doing things we love, that’s why I like doing many activities. I love music and going to concerts,in fact i went to many concerts here in Italy also of my favorite foreign singers. My biggest passion are animals,i have a cat and an iguana,I know it sounds weird,but i like reptiles and i find them very interesting. I’m very fond of my cat,he has been with us for 4 years and when I’m at home he’s always around me,even when i study he sleeps on my books and when i go to sleep he always comes with me. Moreover one of the most important part of my life is horseriding and my special bond with horses. I have been riding for 7 years and I started competing a few years ago. Whenever i have some free time i go to my horse riding centre so i help my trainer with his lessons with children or often i bring my homework to the horse riding school and i do it there. My biggest dream has always been having a horse of my own and finally last year my parents gave me a horse, she’s not completely mine but I’ve been taking care of her for almost a year. I’ve grown very attached and now we have a fantastic combination.

Another point that I would like to touch is that I love journaling around the world and i would like to live and work abroad, In fact I would love to get a job that allows me to travel this much. Fortunately my family loves finding out new cultures and traditions too so I have always been used to traveling.

I wanted to live this kind of experience from middle school but I’ve never really thought that it would turn to reality so I’m really excited. I chose as destination U.S.A because i think is a wonderful country despite i never been there. I want to experience how life works in another country and open my mind to new habits. I consider myself as an independent and reliable girl so this is also a challenge for myself. The cultural baggage that this experience of living abroad will leave me with will certainly be priceless so I’m very excited to take part in this project and can’t wait to leave a one-time-only experience.
