My name is Xenia. I have a younger brother. My parents, my brother, my two cats and I are living in a house with a small garden in Germany.
It was always my dream to travel to the U.S. or to live there some day, so this year abroad is very special to me. I’ve never been in the U.S. but I guess the life there is in a lot of ways different from the life in Germany, e.g. the landscapes, the way of life or the school spirit.
I play the flute since six years at a music school and since four years with the orchestra in my school. I also enjoy to listen to music, new songs but also a lot to old songs, even on vinyl (the Beatles, Queen, Michael Jackson, Ed Sheeran or Sam Smith). I love to do sports too. I do Thai-boxing twice a week and at home I do workouts. I know that I probably can’t go on with Thai-boxing in the U.S. but I think it would be nice to do/try some American sports.
My friends and I like to hang out, so sometimes we go shopping or we go to the cinema or we are just at home talking, listening to music and chilling. I also like baking and cooking. Sometimes my dad and I are cooking together, my dad is a really good cook. My family and I love to travel, but just in Europe, to get to know new cultures. I like to photograph especially when we are travelling, it just makes a lot of fun to take pictures and to look at them after. I mean you can always connect them to a nice vacation or just beautiful moments which you experienced. I will take a lot of photos in my year abroad, to always look back on this year full of new impressions and experiences.
My favourite subjects are English, History, P.E. and Music. There are 800 pupils at my school. I go by bus to school and back home, it only takes 10 minutes. In summer my friends and I go there by bike. Some of my friends and classmates I know since kindergarten. My brother goes to the same school as me.
Me and my family like to do long bicycle tours on sunny weekends, having a picnic or do hiking tours. We like to make barbecue in summer and having guests with us. I like to help with the preparation and I would be happy to have the chance on a typical American barbecue with you.
In my year abroad I definitive want to get to know the family life and the school spirit in the U.S. I also want to improve my English.
I look forward to meet you and I´m thankful you giving me the chance to be a part time member of your family.
