LETTER FROM Yatian

Yatian

To my host family,
First of all, I want to thank you for considering having me in your family for the coming year.
My name is Yatian, and I am a 15-year-old boy from China. I live in Beijing, the capital of China, with my dad, my mom, my little brother and Pipi, our pet dog. My family is a happy one. Both my parents are well-educated and have good jobs. They work hard for not only a happy family but also a nice society. My little brother is cute and naughty, and he is called the “happy fruit” of the family. Pipi is a one-year-old Corgi boy. He was newly adopted into the family, and has become an important member of the family.
I am a kind, honest, and well-behaved young man. Because of my personality, I was voted by my classmates to be the class president in grade 7 and 8. A weakness of mine is I tend to be shy when talking to people I don’t know well, and particularly so when talking in English. But I believe I could become more confident and out-going soon.
I am a sports fan. I like basket-ball, skiing, swimming, soccer, bike riding, volleyball, and a lot others. I am particularly good at basketball and skiing, and I used to be a member of the school basket-ball team and a member of the school skiing team as well. In addition, I enjoy various outdoor activities, such as hiking and camping. I do these a lot together with my family in weekends and holidays. I am also a fan of traditional Chinese cultures. I like cultural activities such as paper-cutting, calligraphy, ceramics making and others.
I like foreign cultures and enjoy being exposed to foreign cultures. I used to visit France and New Zealand for cultural exchanges and I am very excited about this exchange opportunity in the U.S. I look forward to experiencing American cultures, making American friends, and attending a U.S. high school. Some specific activities I want to do include, but not limited to, attending churches, participating in a wedding, joining holiday parties in Halloween and Christmas, touring local farmers’ market, visiting local children’s organizations, such as Boy Scout, and so on. And I will share all these with my Chinese friends!
I look forward to meeting you soon, and I believe we will have a lot of fun together.

Best regards,

Yatian
