Being an ICES Global Ambassador was an eye opening experience
When I first started as the student ambassador of my school, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do a good job and live up to the title of an ambassador. But as time progressed, I learned that being the student ambassador isn’t about living about to anything but rather making friends with the students who are from around the world, but are just like me.
As the student ambassador, I was always there for the exchange students in their time of loneliness and homesickness. I was able to be there for them by just being a friend and supporting them with some fun creative things to distract their minds. Or when they had conflicts I would try to help them by giving them responsible and safe solutions. By doing so I was able to create strong bonds with all of them. Not only did I create strong bonds with the exchange students, I was also able to learn from their cultures just like they were learning from mine.
Being an ICES Global Ambassador was an eye opening experience. I was able to go on trips around the U.S. that I probably wouldn’t have gone on in the near future. I would recommend this to anyone who loves making friends and learning about different cultures.
