Dear future host family,
First of all I want to thank you for reading my letter in which I want to describe my family, my personality and my character, tell a bit about my interests and hobbies and of my hopes and expectations of my exchange year.
My name is Merle and I am a fifteen-year-old girl. My family members are my dad, my mom and my three years older sister. We live in a house with a garden in a city in Germany with 180.000 citizens.
My father’s name is Jochen and we often do funny things together like playing cards, going bowling or other activities. I really enjoy the time with him but unfortunately he works a lot.
My mother’s name is Stefanie, she is called Steffi. She helps me with everything and supports me in every way. I love to talk to her, because she mostly understands me. We often go for a walk.
My sister Ronja is like a friend to me, we often do things together like watching a movie, baking or something like this.
We all often go on vacation together. I love it, because there we spend the most time together and I love to explore the world.
We have five guinea pigs. They are living in our garden.
Now I want to tell a bit about my personality and my hobbies. I am interested in many things and open-minded. I’m a little shy at first, but when I feel more comfortable, I can talk to people easily.
I like to play guitar. I haven´t been playing for that long, but I have a lot of fun with it.
Sometimes I go jogging.
My favorite food is pasta and I love chili cheese nuggets und mozzarella sticks.
My favorite tradition is Christmas, because it´s warm inside and the whole family is with us. I love the food, the decoration and the lights everywhere.
I am very excited about this year in the USA. I hope I will meet nice people and will find new friends. Also, I hope I will become more self-confident and independent. And of cause, I want to improve my English skills too. I hope I will remember this experience my whole life and that this year will become a very special year for me.
Best wishes,
Merle
