LETTER FROM Konrad

Konrad

Dear future host family,

My name is Konrad and I’m nearly 15 years old. I live in Berlin which is the Capital of Germany. I’m going to the 10th grade of high school. In my family are four persons. My dad Dominik, my mum Christina and my big brother Max. With my mum I love to speak about politics and history but also to play card games like Canasta. With my dad I love to watch soccer when our favorite team is playing but also if we talk and discuss about soccer because for me soccer is a big part of my life. I also like it if my dad, my brother and I are going into the wild and making fire there and discover the nature. With my brother I like it that we can talk about fashion and video games. It’s nice to laugh with him because he is a very funny person. With my cat Flaco I love to cuddle and to play with. One of the best things I like to do with my grandparents is to play card games like Canasta or UNO, but also for me it’s very interesting to hear their childhood stories from the time after the war and what happened with my great grandparents back then.

I am a very open person and I love to meet new people and to learn new things. Personally, I think that I can connect to people very good and can have fun with them because I love it to speak with people but also to make jokes and laugh. I also think that I’m a big family person and that I also can fit in an exchange family because I was last year at an exchange in France and there it was very easy for me to settle into the different family besides my family. Another thing is that I can live good with pets or siblings, because I have a cat and I love children very much and have also a brother. I’m rather outgoing and like to meet people and have fun but I also like moments where I can relax and read the holy bible and to learn more about my religion. At the same time, I’m aware of my weaknesses, which are that I’m not a very focused person when learning for school.

My favorite topic that I like to talk about is soccer. Soccer was and is very much everything for me. I loved it since I could walk, and I play in a soccer club in our neighborhood. It would be a dream to play soccer also in my exchange year in the US. I came to soccer because of my dad. He taught me the basics of the sport and was my coach for several years. He also is a big soccer fan and he showed me his favorite team which I’m now also a fan of. At the weekend we watch them together on TV and support them. One of the things I also like to do in my free time is to hang out with my friends, they mean very much to me and to spend time with people that I like is nice. In general, I like sports very much I’m also interested in basketball where I watch the American league sometimes. In my exchange year I hope that I can learn and try new sports. It’s not really a hobby but for me talking about God or going to church also means very much and it really holds my life together when it gets hard.

For me my favorite cuisine in the world is the Italian cuisine where my favorite dishes are Lasagna and Pizza. I really like to go on vacations with my family because we are always travelling to interesting places like Thailand in Asia or my vacation to the US where we travelled to New York, Los Angeles, and many other beautiful places. In general, I hope that I can have a beautiful time in the US and to make friends and to improve my English. I also hope that I can spend time with them and to do family activities with them because I also want to have fun with them and get to know them very well and doing the things, they like with them.

I’m looking forward to the day that I can meet you soon wherever that will be in the US.

Yours Konrad
