Dear Host Family,

I am Lola and my dream is to discover the United States.

I am from Madrid, where I live with my parents (Carolina and Jose Carlos) and my little brother (Carlos). My family likes to make plans and spend the day outside, with them I have enjoyed many nature trips and many other trips. Thanks to this, I love animals and discovering new places. But I do not only like nature, I also like to go out in the city, shopping, going to the movies, eating with friends,… My family is also very outgoing and we make many plans with friends, for example, every summer we rent a house and make a trip with friends.

Some of my parents’ friends have small children, so I have had to babysit a few times, and I have to say that I love it, for a long time I have liked taking care of them and playing with them, because I love children.

My family also really likes to celebrate the special days in a big way and with the whole family, for example, on New Year’s Eve my grandparents, my uncles and all my cousins get together in Granada and we have a costume party with a new theme every year and the grandchildren do a theater or a dance, which makes the New Year much more fun. New Year’s Eve is the time when the whole family gets together, since my family is distributed throughout Spain and Germany, which has made us travel and see many places, which I love because I adore meeting people, discovering new traditions and visiting museums where I can discover all the history of the place.

My family and I not only go out, we also have days when we have a family evening where we watch movies, cook or whatever we like.

Speaking of things I like, I have many hobbies, but the ones I like to do the most are playing volleyball, cooking, reading and spending time with people. Although I am open to any type of new activity because I love discovering things. I have done a lot of extracurricular activities during my life, for example, I have done dancing, sailing, skiing, athletics, tennis, paddle tennis, surfing, swimming,…

Speaking of me, I am quite an outgoing and social person who loves to make plans, as I have already said. I also consider myself a responsible and fairly organized person who likes to keep things under control and make sure everything is done well, so sometimes in group things I don’t trust giving responsibility to another person in case it doesn’t go well, that’s why sometimes I get bossy. All of this is reflected academically. I also consider myself an empathetic person who is quite good with words, and who knows how to solve problems, although sometimes I am also a little selfish and only think about myself, this depends on the moment, like everything. I also really enjoy sports and I give my best, the bad thing is that sometimes I get too competitive.

The United States has always caught my attention and I have always wanted to know how people live there, so thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to fulfill this dream by being my host family for this exchange year. I think that with this experience I will meet many new and incredible people, I will also finally know how to live there and what your customs are, and I think it could be the best year of my life.
