Hi and hello to my future host family! I hope you are doing well the moment you`re reading this.

My name is Ella and I am from Germany. I`m really excited about my year abroad, so I`m going to tell you something about my family first. My family consists of my mom, my dad and me. And I`m lucky to still have my grandparents from both sides plus aunts, uncles and cousins. I really enjoy spending time with my family, in particular at yearly holidays like Christmas, Easter, and of course birthdays and also family events. I also enjoy vacations together with my parents when we go to Italy or to South Germany.

I would personally say, that I am very open minded, which is one of my strengths, so I like to try out new things and meet new people. I would also consider myself as a friendly and interested person.J One of my weaknesses is, that I like to postpone unpleasant things and that I often need a reminder in those cases. Sometimes I also have to improve my time management.

A big interest of mine is traveling, so I love exploring new countries and learning or hearing different languages. I was very lucky to spend three weeks in summer, 2022 in Chicago, because I had the opportunity to stay with my mom`s friend who she met when she was an Au-pair in 1996. My favorite activity is definitely meeting up with my friends, because I love spending time with them and talking to them and of course meeting new people which I also said before. My favorite sport and hobby is going to the gym with my friend, because I`m free there to do anything I like! Regarding to eating habits – I would describe myself as an “easy“ eater. I almost eat everything, except from raw tomatoes. I like any dishes that are made of potatoes and I also really like pasta. A family tradition is, that me and my parents almost every day have dinner together and that we like to talk about our days. On my favorite holiday, which is Christmas, we like to go to the Christmas market and meet up with the rest of the family on Christmas eve.

From the opportunity of this year abroad, I hope to gain a lot of experience with a wonderful family, new friends, a different, but exciting school and interesting new hobbies, like sports or any type of clubs! I`m super excited to get to know you and I hope that we will spend a nice year together! Thank you so much in advance for opening your „doors“ for me.
