LETTER FROM Lorena

Lorena

Dear future family:

My name is Lorena, I’m fourteen years old and I live in Spain.

I would like to tell you a little bit about myself; I’m a talkative and energetic girl. I love listening to music, dancing and moving around. I consider myself to be tidy, responsible and independent because I complete my personal tasks. I’m used to doing household chores, such as washing dishes, laundry, vacuuming, taking out the trash, making my bed among others. I like to keep my room clean and organized but I’m not an extreme perfectionist and I enjoy cooking for my family. Even though my father is in charge of cooking we are totally independent when we have to be and we are used to cooking for ourselves when they are not at home. We are used to healthy food and I’m not a picky eater.

Spain is famous for its Paella, which is a yummy rice dish with all sorts of ingredients; personally I would love to cook a Spanish omelet for you, which is a traditional dish we really enjoy, and some summer dishes such as “Gazpacho” and Iberan ham. We have Flamenco as our national dance, which is a passionate and vibrant form of art.

Talking about my family, we are seven counting my two dogs (which are adorable and I love them), my mom, who is a teacher and she is the foundation of this family. Thanks to her, our family is very tight and we are always doing things together. Then my dad, he is an engineer, he may look serious, but he is actually very caring with us. Then I have two sisters; one is older and the other is younger than me. The older one’s opinions are really important to me, I look up to her, while the younger one shares with me a passion for being active and playing. We usually play board games, watch movies and we do some trekking together.

I’m in my 3rd year of highschool which is called E.S.O in Spain, I like most subjects including English, Maths, History and Science and I’m thinking about studying Biology which I really enjoy. Regarding my friends, I consider myself to be quite sociable, so I usually get along with most people I meet, for me my friends are really special and important people. I enjoy doing most activities so I usually adapt to my friends’ hobbies.

One of the main reasons why I’m interested in going to the U.S.A. is improving my English. Another reason is getting to know new people, culture, opinions and points of view, immersing myself in a complete but interesting new experience. I have been out of Spain a few times with my family or school for visiting cultural places or skiing which I really enjoyed and enriched me quite a lot. I have no fears regarding the distances between my family and me but I’m a bit scared of the challenges I will have to face in a completely different and new environment, but I’m sure it will be ok.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and considering me as an option.I’ll be happy with any destiny that I get and I’m really grateful for your hospitality.

Best regards

Lorena
