LETTER FROM Angelica

Angelica

Hi!

Nice to meet you, I’m Angelica from Italy, I hope that through this letter you can see and imagine who I am, my background and my interests.

I’m 16 years old, I live in Italy, in Milan, I’m on my third year of “liceo linguistico”. At school I can’t decide my courses every year, in Italy after the middle school we choose a program of studies: I decided to attend a school with more language learning.

I have so many subjects, including also english, spanish, french, history, PE, math, philosophy, italian literature, latin, physics, chemistry, art and religion.

In grade 8 I choose this school because I thought and I still think that studying many languages is very important but above all because I do not want to stay forever in Italy, I would like to travel around the world and I wish I had so many different opportunities for the future.

I really like to go to school, confront myself with different people or study interesting topics. I especially like to see my friends at school, who make it less heavy sometimes. There is always so much work to do at home, I study a lot and when I have free time I go out with my group of friends and we meet for a coffee and we usually talk about our interests or news.

I consider myself a mature person, I grew up with people older than me and I stared seeing the world as it is since I was very small but I think it’s a good quality because I see things from a broader perspective compared to many of my peers. In fact I consider myself a very open minded person.

I always try to be nice, kind and altruistic with everyone. I love helping other people: if a friend of mine needs help in general or in studying it’s always a pleasure for me to help them, and if I am in need there is always someone I can count on. I’m truly grateful for that.

I’m a very chatty person, I like knowing new people, talking to other about everything, like actuality or our lives.

I’m always available to help in need in fact when they need me I also go to the Parrish Youth Center to be an animator: in the summer I do it for about 2 months.

I really enjoy being with children: they make you tired but in the end you are very happy because they always make you feel special and appreciated.

My greatest passion is art, because through art I can express myself freely and I can say what I can not say in words. I like drawing and painting. Although i really like to write, I like to write poems or songs in which I completely express myself. A great dream of mine would be to be able to write a book or a song.

I’ve been singing and playing the piano since I was little.

One of my main interests are sports, I practiced many sports: swimming, volleyball, tennis, kick boxing, basketball and hip-hop.

Also design and fashion are in my interest.

I have a normal relationship with my parents, I am not used to telling them all my thoughts and feelings.

I also have a sister and a brother, both older than me. I recently started to establish a relationship with them, especially with my brother with whom I don’t get along very well but we are learning to listen to each other, he’s very protective about the family. While my sister has always been very reserved, so I didn’t really know her but now we are bonding so much and I really like this. They are like references for me.

Finally, I also live with my dog, Lucky. He’s a black Labrador and we spend a lot of time together, we take walks in the park near to my house and I love him a lot.

Talking about the future, well, I’m sure that I would like to do a job where I am in contact with people and I would like to be able to make them smile and make their day better, but above all I would like to have a job that makes me happy and satisfied with what I do.

I really want to be an exchange student because I enjoy knowing other cultures, traditions, families and to improve my english.

I think that this could be an opportunity to make a different experience for my young age and become more independent from my family. I know some exchange students and they came back really happy with incredible adventures; it can be difficult but I think I could manage emotions like melancholy. I can’t wait to leave and finally to realize my dream!
