LETTER FROM Mao Lun

Mao Lun

Hello my name is Max.
I have enjoyed making friends since childhood, interacting with people of diverse interests– whether it’s playing basketball, video games, or indulging in a delightful buffet, Having a circle of friend who share similar interests brings me joy.
The primary reason I aspire to be an exchange student in the United States is to connect with diverse individuals, learn about different cultures, and broaden my persepctives.
My father is instrumental in supporting my exchange student plan. He works in an IT product global branding company and emphasizes that teamswork with people from various countries is both challenging and interesting.
My mother is a full-time mom, caring for my younger brother (11 years old), younger sister (9 years old), and me. She understands my personality well and provides significant emotional support. Additionally, she has taught me valuable Chinese cooking skills.
Since childhood, our family has frequently traveled to Eastern Taiwan, specifically Hualian City and Taitung City. Opting for bed and breakfast accommodations, we relax, enjoy the scenery, and engage with hosts who share insights into local daily life.
Perhaps these childhood memories contribute to my desire to explore the United States.
I am eager to share the beauty of my small hometown, Taiwan, with you. One vivid memory is from three years ago, when in the early morning, my dad and I went canoeing near Hualian Qingshui Cliff, close to Taroko National Park.
We spent a total of 5-6 hours in the Pacific Ocean, navigating the challenging waves. Though exhausting, witnessing the sunrise from the sea was an amazing and unforgettable moment.
