Dear host family,
My name is Matteo, I will be 17 and I am from Italy. My family and I live in a small green town near to Milan.
My family is composed by my mom Sara, who works with children and young teens as a private educator, my dad Luca is in the gardening business and my little 10-year-old sister Diana a lively child who I get on with.
However, my parents are separated they have a good relationship, and they stand by one another. Thus, I live with the women of the house. As I’ve already mentioned before my mom is the housekeeper and a teacher while my dad runs the family business, his company takes care of private and public gardens, also by using new technology. My younger sister is a young student. It can seem kind of messy sometimes, but I love my family a lot and without them I feel like I’m nothing.
Another important part of my life are my grandparents, those from Genoa are my mother’s ones while the ones from Milan are my dad’s. I’m lucky of having a cousin who’s almost the same age as me (he is 7 months older) we don’t get along all the time, but we always figure the problem out and leave it in the past.
My sport life has always been intense since I started my life swimming as a 6-month baby, I then turned to karate only to understand at the age of 9 that I loved football, or soccer for Americans, my journey in soccer terminated when the high-level expectancy became a weight to carry, so I changed again and started basketball.
I’m conscious that I was so much better at soccer, but basketball makes me feel good. I am a huge fan of A.C. MILAN. Talking about sports I am also good at volleyball; I’ve really enjoyed it since I started practicing it at Secondary School. When I come to America, I would like to play soccer to see if I can still make it at high-level. I enjoy listening to music but it’s not a fundamental thing to me.
Talking about me as a person, I think I am emphatic, funny and in general a cheerful person, but I am also protective with who I love and instincive.
From this experience I would like to gain a better English knowledge and expand my horizons about the American culture and customs.
