LETTER FROM Yannik

Yannik

Hello to my future host family,

My Name is Yannik and I am really excited to visit the United States of America and to experience a new everyday life. But first I want to say thank you to my future host family, that they would take me or other students. It’s a really big act to visit the US for more than four weeks and without their Parents with the hope, that the host family is friendly and happy to show off their country.

In Germany I live in small town in the north. I have three Siblings including two sisters and one brother. My Siblings and me support each other and always have a lot of fun together. My family is a whole “firefighter family”. My parents and my sister are already real fire fighters. I am in the youth fire department and hold a leadership position. The youth fire service don’t fight fires or something like that, its more about training with various training and exercises to become a real firefighter. It’s starting from the age of ten and lasts eight years. I have a lot of fun to be a youth firefighter and I am also impressed by the fire service in the United States. Here in Germany I play soccer and I love to go out with friends. I go to a community school with many opportunities and offers. I am also very interested in the field of lighting and sound technology and have taken a course on this at my school.

The idea to go to the United States of America for an exchange year comes from my dad. He told me a lot about the US, and he loves this country. He gave me this idea 2 years ago and said that would be an incredible experience and an incredible time. Also, he told me something about the culture and that many Americans are fascinated by tourist, so I decided to go on an exchange year because I am really fascinated by the US. My parents want to support me, so that give me that opportunity to go on an exchange year. My siblings also wanted my dream to come true, but they are also a bit sad about it because I am so far away and for a very long time.

What I am most looking forward to is a new lifestyle and a new everyday life. I hope that I can make new friends there, get to know a lot of new things an of course experience a lot. Of course, I am looking forward to finding new hobbies or interest. I am happy to get this chance to know my favorite country better. And the biggest thing I am looking forward is that we get along well together as new Host family.

Well, with my last words I would like to once again my openness toward you as a host family.

I think I am very adaptable and want to have a great time with you and that we take a beautiful time together.
