Dear future host family,
I hope this letter finds you well! My name is Diella. I am 16 years old and live in Germany. First of all, I would like to thank you for making it possible for me to do this cultural exchange with you!
I am really looking forward to spending time abroad and getting to know you and spending time together.
In Germany I live with my family, which includes my parents and my two siblings. Our city is not too big, but I have all my friends and great memories here. Obviously, I’m excited to gain many new experiences and make new memories! In my free time, I enjoy reading, going for walks, spending time with friends and dancing, and I am always open to trying new activities! I’ve been dancing since I was 3 years old but unfortunately, I haven’t had the time recently, which I hope to improve again.
I’ve always been curious about what life is like in other parts of the world. That curiosity is one of the main reasons I decided to do an exchange year. To tell the truth it was also always a dream of mine to go to an American high school and live the “American Dream” just like in all the movies and books where they talk about the teenage life. The idea of being able to live it myself really got to me.
I believe doing this exchange program will help me get more independent and give me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone more, even though I would say I am pretty open-minded. It will be a wonderful chance to learn more about myself as well.
Building Friendships in a completely new environment is something I am also really looking forward to – it will be such a great experience to meet people who have grown up in a totally different environment.
Above all I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of your family. I cannot wait to meet you in person and become a part of your family for the time I’m there!!
Thank you so much for making this experience possible.
