LETTER FROM Mia

Mia

Hello, I am Mia and I am 14 years old. I live in Spain, specifically in Barcelona, with my parents, my two older brothers, and my dog. My brothers also did an exchange year, and they recommend it to everyone because it helped them to become a better version of themselves and grow as a person. They always tell me stories about their exchange year, and I’m very excited to have the chance to live a similar experience and learn a lot of new things.

I care a lot about my family and friends. However, at first I can be a little bit shy with people I don’t know; that is why I think this year can help me to be more outgoing and lose timidness. I am loyal and kind, as I care a lot about people’s feelings. I am also generous and organized. In my free time I like painting and doing handicrafts, meeting with my friends, and listening to music, and I love baking because it helps me relax.

I love trying new sports, that’s why during my life I have tried a few different ones. When I was four years old I started swimming and then, I did dance during almost all of my childhood and roller skating for a year, but five years ago I started doing athletics because I wanted to practice a new sport and my best friend convinced me to try it and thanks to her now I love it.

I love spending time with my family, that’s why my favorite holiday is Christmas. In my house we don’t celebrate Santa, instead we do Christkind, which is a German tradition, because my grandma is from Germany, and it makes her very happy. In my exchange year I will enjoy living the USA traditions, especially Christmas.

I am very grateful for having this opportunity and I want to thank my future host family by including me to their home. I think I can bring happiness to the family and learn about the culture in the USA.

Thank you for reading this letter and giving me this opportunity,
