My name is Alex, and I am so grateful for the chance to introduce myself to you. I live with my dad, mom, brother, sister, and my two pets – a cat and a dog – in a small village in the western part of Slovakia. During the week, I mostly spend my time in a nearby district town. In the morning, I ride with my dad or my mom to school, if I start earlier, I take the bus. In the afternoon, I usually take the bus home because my siblings finish school earlier than I do. On the weekends, I help my parents in the garden, mow the lawn, walk the dog, vacuum, visit my grandparents or play video games. In the evening, we occasionally open a pack of chips and relax while watching something on Netflix.
I am a rather quiet person. I don’t like conflicts but I enjoy communicating and being part of a community. I can be a bit lazy sometimes, however I am always willing to help, and when doing my chores, I always finish them. I am a fast learner and usually do my homework while listening to music. I’m also interested in computers. On Fridays, I hang out with my friends at a youth club YMCA where we spend time together.
Currently, I work out twice a week with my sister and a friend, either at the gym or at home if I have time, but I look forward to working out more regularly. In the winter, I love skiing with my dad and sister and last winter ice skating, because our field froze, and I had the perfect opportunity to do so. In the summer, I swim in our pool, cycle through the village, listen to music, watch films or series, go hiking. In recent years, we’ve been taking a two-week holiday to Croatia. And of course, I love playing video games during my free time at home.
Generally, I prefer meat dishes – like spaghetti, shepherd’s pie, pizza, lasagna, and chicken burgers – and my favorite meal of all is schnitzel with rice and baked potatoes, which we often have as the main dish for Sunday lunch. On the other hand, I’m not a big fan of vegetarian meals, but I’m open to trying new foods and am willing to challenge my preferences.
I have always wanted to travel to America and experience life in a new way, exchange cultures and find out everything I can about America. I have also been to many other European countries, like Italy, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, and Poland, mostly by car. I love road trips, but I haven’t travelled overseas beyond England, I plan to visit more countries in the future.
Thank you so much for considering me for this wonderful opportunity. I feel incredibly grateful for the chance to join your family and experience life in a new culture. I’m excited to get to know each of you, learn from you, and hopefully make some unforgettable memories together. I truly appreciate your generosity in opening your home to me and look forward to all that lies ahead.
