LETTER FROM Stella

Stella

My name is Stella, I’m 15 years old, and I live with my parents, younger brother, and our cat in a village near the capital city of the Czech Republic. Growing up in a family that provides me with unconditional love and support has shaped who I am today. My parents are always encouraging, and they guide my brother and me through life’s challenges. My mom, though honest and straightforward, gives me the best life advice, while my dad, who truly understands me, I seem he is an older version of myself. My younger brother sometimes tests my patience, but despite our occasional arguments, I love him dearly.

As someone who’s pretty reserved, I think I’m also super adaptable and open to trying new things. Empathy is a big part of who I am—I feel like I can easily connect with people and understand how they’re feeling in different situations. On the negative side, I am very self-critical and easily distracted. I sometimes procrastinate but I somehow always manage to finish everything on time.

My biggest passion is art. I love anything creative—drawing, painting, you name it! I’ve been attending an art class for nine years, so I’ve learned quite a few tricks along the way. My other hobbies kind of match my personality too—I enjoy reading and baking. I’m not part of any sports teams at the moment (I used to do kayaking or athletics in past), but I do like staying active. My family and I ski a lot, go hiking, and cycle together. I wouldn’t call myself a big sports fan, but I do enjoy the activities we do as a family or with my friends. As for traditions, we don’t really have anything super unique. We go to church during the holidays and have a big Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, but that’s probably pretty common.

One of the reasons to go for Exchange year to the USA is that I dream about living the “American dream” —going to Friday night football games, riding a yellow school bus, and eating all the fast food that makes you feel guilty afterward. It sounds so exciting and fun! But more than that, I want to push myself out of my comfort zone. I aspire to be as independent in places I have never been before and surrounded by new people and learn to be independent in situations that might feel a little scary at first. I’m ready to take on any opportunity to grow, explore, and figure out who I am.

I am looking forward to meeting you and to be a part of your family and I really hope we will make some great memories together.
