LETTER FROM Noelia

Noelia

Dear future host family,

My name is Noélia, and I am very happy to have the opportunity to participate in this new adventure. Today, I am writing to introduce myself and give you a general overview of who I am. I have two younger brothers,
with whom I have a lot of fun. My parents are divorced, and I am particularly close to my mother, who is a very important person in my life. We have a very strong bond, and her support is invaluable to me. I really enjoy spending time with my family, and one of our activities is watching certain sports on TV when the opportunity arises, such as during important matches. I particularly enjoy hockey and football, which I often watch with my Polish family, even though I don’t understand half of the rules…

I have many passions, and one of the most important is my love for animals. I have two cats, Symba and Kiara, and a dog, Océan, who has been with me for six years and is my best friend. I love observing their sensitivity and unique personalities, which deeply touches me. Outside of my pets, I really enjoy reading psychological romances or other types of books, cooking, watching series and movies, listening to music, and singing. I’m someone who loves to laugh and make others laugh, and I always try to lighten the mood and create a pleasant atmosphere around me. I also enjoy going out with my friends, whether it’s walking our dogs, going to the movies, or ice skating—because as long as I’m with them, I’m sure to have fun. I like being around people with whom I can enjoy good times. I am quite shy at first, and I like to observe situations before I feel completely comfortable. However, once I feel at ease with someone, I become joyful and sociable. One of my favorite times of the year is Christmas, as it’s a magical, timeless celebration for me. As for books and movies, I prefer happy endings because I am very sensitive and often cry when the ending is sad. However, from time to time, I do enjoy reading a sad and realistic book.

Despite my passions and hobbies, there are things that make me feel a bit more vulnerable, such as my self-confidence, which has been affected by past experiences of bullying. This can sometimes make situations difficult, especially when I need to talk about myself or my feelings, but I always try to stay positive and look at the bright side of things. I dislike injustice and don’t like being the center of attention. I also have fears, such as needles, insects, etc. Unexpected situations tend to stress me out, even though stress is a part of me. I want to tell you that I’m not always comfortable speaking in public, but I always try my best.

However, I love being surrounded by my family, which is one of the most important things to me. I am Polish, and all my family lives in Poland. Unfortunately, I only get to see them once a year, which I miss a lot. Being with them makes me happy, and there is nothing better than feeling at home with them. Nothing can happen to me as long as I am with my family; it is where I truly feel myself, and it brings me great comfort. One of my favorite dishes is pierogi, a traditional Polish dish. I hold my heritage in high regard, even though I do not speak the language very well yet. It’s something I would love to learn later, so I can get even closer to my culture and my roots.

I would like to warmly thank you for possibly welcoming me and for offering me the opportunity to live this amazing experience with you. I am truly grateful that you took the time to read my letter and hope you are having a wonderful day or evening. Thank you again for your future hospitality and generosity.
