LETTER FROM Lorenzo

Lorenzo

Dear host family, thanks for taking some of your time to read my presentation letter.

I’m Lorenzo, I live with my parents, my younger sister, who is three years younger than me, and our cat, who joined us recently. We’re very close and spend a lot of time together, sharing lots of interests and activities.

One of our biggest family passions is playing board games. We’re even part of a volunteer association through which we teach board games and invite people to play for free at the library. We often find ourselves explaining rules and getting people of all ages involved, creating a fun and friendly environment.

Another activity we love to do together is hiking in the mountains. In fact, we often go for walks together. My dad is really passionate about the mountains, and he’s passed that passion on to me since I was young. Since I was eight, I’ve been part of a youth hiking group, and every month we go hiking, exploring caves, or doing compass navigation activities. I have so many great memories tied to the mountains, like all kinds of hikes, nights spent in tents or shelters, and walking through the snow. I’ve also made a lot of friends through these experiences, which makes the mountains even more special to me.

For the past three years, I’ve also started rock climbing, which has now become my main sport. I loved it right from the start, and I’m really passionate about it. I mostly climb indoors, at climbing gyms, but whenever I can, I love climbing outdoors, on rocks, in the mountains. Before I got into climbing, I played a lot of other sports, like basketball, swimming, and tennis. But I think climbing is my favorite because it doesn’t put me in competition with anyone; it’s more of a personal challenge. Sometimes I also go to the gym, mainly to do bodyweight exercises, but I often work out at home too, to stay in shape.

Another passion that my dad passed on to me is chess. Lately, unfortunately, I haven’t played much, but when I was younger, I took a few courses and participated in some tournaments. Now and then, I still play a game or two with friends.

Ever since I was little, I’ve always played a lot of video games, either alone or with friends, and I’m a big fan of computers. But about a year ago, I really got into programming, studying HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, three programming languages used to build websites. I decided to learn programming because my school offered a course, and I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of getting into the tech world.

This year, I also joined the school newspaper, where I manage the Instagram page, creating fun content and sharing school news. I joined the project because I had already had some experience with social media as a content creator, although I eventually moved away from that path.

I’m an outgoing and curious guy. I love making new friends and having new experiences. I’ve always dreamed of going to America because both the culture and the Country fascinate me. I’ve only ever seen it online and never experienced it in person. I don’t really know what to expect, but I love surprises, and I’m ready for any experience that this year abroad will bring me.

Many thanks for all the great moments we will share and for all the support you will give to me. I hope this will be an enriching experience for me as well as for you all.
