Dear future Host Family,

I am Iñigo, I have always wanted to study in the USA, so this would be a dream come true for me. I am Spanish and live in a medium-sized city in the North of Spain. I’m very sociable, with many friends from school, my football team, and the summer gang. I play a lot of sports and my favorite sport is soccer. As a child, I belonged to the tennis school team and also in athletics but when I had to choose I stayed with my favorite sport which I trained three times a week and played a game on the weekend. I love playing football because it allows me to be with my team, who are also my friends, three times a week training and playing a game on the weekends. Apart from football, I love tennis, cycling, swimming, going to the beach to play sports, having barbecues, excursions with family or friends, camping.

If you are reading this letter it is because you are thinking of hosting a foreign student, first of all, thank you for your generosity and also tell you that I am an educated child with strong family values who belongs to a very united family, very active in terms of trips and activities and with a strong capacity for adaptation. I want to enjoy and also contribute to and reward the family that hosts me with a positive and proactive attitude. My family is what I love most in the world and the one that gives me strength and support. My mother is the person with whom I get along best, she is affectionate and kind although she is also very strict, we have the same extroverted character and we are very sociable, we laugh at the same things and understand each other just by looking at each other. She works a lot and has achieved a lot of things in a men’s job, she works in the maritime sector. I love her strength and her passion, which she transmits to everyone around her.

My father is a very good person, he is affectionate and empathetic and has always played a lot with us. Since we are little he tells us many stories and tales because he has a lot of imagination. He works in the hospital sector as a salesperson. He is extremely polite and calm and with my mother they make a good couple, very balanced in every way, they have been married for twenty-one years and it is nice to see them together. My brother is two years older than me, we argue all the time although it is true that I cannot live without him, I miss him when he is not there although I say this because I know he will not read this letter. We are very different, he is very serious and does not like outdoor activities, even so, I love and admire him.

In the summer I went for several years to spend the month of July in the South of England with an English family with three children of 19,15 and 13 years old. There I live like one of them, I go to the school that my English brother, Bart, attends and I practice his sports. The objective is to learn English but also to know how to live in a foreign country and to know how to adapt to other customs. Last summer it was Bart who came to spend a month in Spain and he had a wonderful time together.

My brother already enjoyed the experience last year, and I don’t want to miss the opportunity that life gives me. I love to travel. I have been with my family in many countries, including the USA twice, both on vacation, and I love your country, its customs, and its way of living and thinking.

Without a doubt, I am the ideal student to host because I am looking for a family like you that welcomes me with generosity and affection and to which I can bring joy and a positive attitude. Thank you very much for being that family.
