LETTER FROM Lena

Lena

Dear future host family,

I live in a family of four, including my two stepsisters. I love spending time with my family, whether it’s going on trips, having movie or gaming nights, or just sharing everyday moments. My favorite holiday is Christmas because we celebrate it as a family, and the vibe is just amazing. I love the decorations, the food, and the cozy atmosphere, just everything about Christmas. I deeply value the time I spend with my family. We have a great relationship, and I’m incredibly thankful for it because I know not everyone can take that for granted.

I would describe myself as an open person, although I can be a bit shy when I meet new people. Once I feel comfortable, I quickly become more outgoing. I can be a little impatient when things don’t work out right away, but I’m working on staying calm and approaching challenges step by step. I love supporting my friends and family and making them feel good about themselves. At home, I help with household tasks like unloading the dishwasher, taking out the garbage, doing laundry, and occasionally cooking meals. I especially enjoy cooking for my family because it’s fun and rewarding.

After school, I like spending time with my friends. We go shopping, hang out at someone’s house to do homework, play games, or just chat. We love going to flea markets or exploring the city together. I’ve known my best friends for eight years and have been great friends ever since. I also work a lot after school. I babysit and help out in the adventure hall at my school, where I make sure everything runs smoothly and keep an eye on the children. On Wednesdays, I attend acting classes, which is one of my favorite activities. Acting helps me learn more about myself and how to express emotions in front of a camera. I love the process of becoming a different person for a few minutes and portraying their feelings. The people in my acting class are amazing, and I’ve grown a lot through this experience.

When I was 13 or 14, I first heard about exchange years in America, and I immediately knew it was something I wanted to do. The idea of experiencing a new lifestyle, meeting new people, and immersing myself in a completely different culture excites me. Now, my dream is hopefully becoming a reality.

I’m especially looking forward to living with an American host family and experiencing their daily life. I believe staying with a host family will give me a more authentic understanding of American culture than attending a boarding school.

Thank you for reading my letter and I am looking forward to meeting you.
