Dear future host family, my name is Marit, I’m 16 years old and I live in a pretty small town in Germany.

My favourite movie of all time is definitely Harry Potter and I love reading novels. Musically, I love listening to Frank Ocean and The Weeknd. My favourite meals are wraps, sweet potato fries and sushi. But I especially love sweet snacks like brownies, cookies and M&Ms!

I enjoy doing all kind of sports but at the moment I only go to the gym. In the past years I played volleyball but had to stop because our team was closed. Most of my free time I spend with my friends. They are really important to me and we love to play games, going shopping, talking for hours or just trying new food. In my alone time I love to cook and bake. According to my family the food always turns out good.

I would describe myself as an extroverted person. I love getting to know new people and don’t have a problem going up to them. I’m a team player because I love thinking and working with others. In addition, I would describe myself as creative, adoptable and very social. I enjoy getting involved in social activities at school, for example I serve as the middle school representative. My weakness is that I am a perfectionist and I am impatient sometimes.

I actually really enjoy going to school because I get to see my friends, it gives my day a routine and even though some classes are hard I really enjoy English, History and Politics/Economy. And as I have already mentioned, I’m active in the student representation of our school and have the office as the spokesperson for the middle school.

In general, my academic performance is important to be because in the future I would like to study at a renowned university abroad. I could imagine myself studying something related to economics or marketing.

My family consists of my mother, father, my two big brothers and our dog, that we adopted four years ago. We live in a house with a garden. At home, we are expected to help regularly in the household but we don’t have fixed tasks.

On holidays like Christmas and Eastern my family always spends time together. We always go to church together and eat a big dinner together. In general dinner is the most important meal for us that we try to always eat together. There we always talk about our day and the upcoming events.

I hope in my Semester in the US I’m gonna make a lot of experiences that include learning about a new culture, trying new food, getting to know knew people and just get to know the famous “American lifestyle”. I’m super excited because I’m gonna be in America for the first time of my life and there is so much to see and try.
