Dear future host family,

My name is Luisa and I am very happy and grateful to have the opportunity to spend a high
school year in the USA and become part of your family. I am very excited to gain new
experiences, to improve my English skills and get to know the American culture.

I am 15 years old and I live with my parents in a small town in the middle of Germany. I have
no siblings but two little cousins, 4 and 2 years old (my third cousin will be born in
December). I still have one grandmother and she has a dog that I like very much and with
whom I like to spend a lot of time. We have no pets but I like horse riding very much and that
since I was 6 years old. Currently I train jumping with the horse. I also play volleyball and I
like reading books. In my free time, I like to meet up with my friends. I am looking forward to
sharing my life with you and to learn more about new leisure activities that might be
available especially in the USA.

The main reason for my decision to spend a high school year in the USA is that I am very
interested in American culture and want to improve my English language skills. I hope to be
hosted by a nice host family who can become my second family. I also hope to find new
friends. I think that the high school year and the stay with my host family will prepare me for
my future life. It will give me experience and is an opportunity that I will never get again.
When I meet someone for the first time, I’m a bit shy at first. But once we get to know each
other, I’m an open and friendly person and we can have a lot of fun together. I can also adapt
well to new situations and I am curious to get to know you and also to give you positive
impulses from my cultural background. I am very grateful for the opportunity to embark on
this adventure and I look forward to meeting you soon.
