Dear Host Family,

My name is Vito, I am 16 years old, and I am excited to have the opportunity to write to you. My family consists of me, my mother, my father and our two German shepherds. As a family, we enjoy spending time together, watching movies or TV series, but also cooking. Every year we organize trips to visit important European cities, which allows us to discover new cultures and traditions. Another activity we love is skiing. Although we live in southern Italy, where snow is not so frequent, we always try to organize to go to the mountains when winter comes.

I am a quiet, sociable person and I like to learn new things. I am very curious about people and cultures different from my own, and I am always excited to meet new friends. My favorite sport is skiing, but living in southern Italy I don’t have many opportunities to practice it frequently, so I enjoy it when I can. Another sport I really enjoy is basketball, both watching it and playing it. In my spare time, I also like to engage in filmmaking and music, two of my great passions. I enjoy discovering new films, analyzing the details and understanding how they are made. In addition, I love to cook and find that it is an activity that combines creativity and practicality and allows me to explore new culinary traditions. During this experience in the United States, I hope to learn a lot, improve my English and discover a completely new culture. I want to meet people who are different from me, share experiences and learn how to live in a context that is different from what I am used to. I think living with a host family will help me grow, adapt to new situations and have new experiences that will enrich my life significantly. I am very motivated to take advantage of this opportunity to improve myself both personally and linguistically, and I hope to bring a little bit of me into your life as well.
