LETTER FROM Mar

Mar

Dear future family,

My name is Mar; I’m 15 and from Spain. I live with my parents (mom and dad) and my younger brother, and even though we are a small family, we enjoy spending time together. We like doing simple things like going to the cinema at the weekend or playing board games. I’m grateful for having a united family, and I value the time we share very much.

I am a very friendly person, respectful and extroverted. I describe myself as an optimist and always willing to help. One of my strengths is the ability to adapt to new situations, which I think will be very useful during my stay in the US. Maybe at the beginning, I’m a little shy, but once I feel comfortable, I like to socialize and meet new people.

Some of my hobbies are dancing, listening to music, playing board or fun games, and visiting new places. I enjoy learning new things, such as recipes or sports. I don’t have a specific favorite food, but I like pizza, hamburgers, Korean food, pasta, etc. Sometimes I love to surprise my family with a new recipe I learned, like brownies or pizzas. As for traditions, my family and I met at my grandparents’ house to celebrate Christmas or Halloween, the last one is the best because my granda and I create a tunnel of horror every year.

I hope this exchange can let me meet a new culture, improve my English, and make friends from different parts of the world. I am super excited about the opportunity to live in such a different environment and learn from my new family and friends. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter. I can’t wait to meet and be part of my new family during this experience.
