LETTER FROM Giorgi from Georgia

Giorgi from Georgia

Dear Host Family,

My name is Giorgi and I come from a small country called Georgia. I am 15 years old and live with my parents. My father has his own wine bottling business and my mother works as a psychotherapist. I have one older brother who’s studying at California State University in the USA, and I look up to him a lot, especially for how independent and open-minded he’s become while studying in the USA. He’s really passionate about using what he’s learned to support our family business in Georgia, and he hopes to bring new ideas and skills back home. I admire his dedication, and it inspires me to think about how I can also contribute to my family and community in the future. I also have one pet dog named Louie. He brings joy and happiness in our family.

During the weekdays our family is very busy. My parents go to work and I go to school, German lessons, soccer practice and Jiu-Jitsu. But in the evenings we meet at the dinner table and talk about our day. We spend most of our quality time on the weekends. Depending on the season we do various activities such as going to the vineyards in the fall to harvest grapes. In the winter we go to ski resorts which are 2 hours from my home city. In summer I visit my cousins, in their summer house, where we swim, play board games and take walks in the fields.

I have a lot of responsibilities at home, like helping my parents with household chores, taking care of my room, being responsible with my studies and taking care of our dog.

At school, I’m interested in math, science, and I hope one day to pursue a career in Financial Management. I’m still figuring things out, but I know I want to keep exploring, learning, and developing my skills. Soccer is one of my biggest passions. I play whenever I can, either with my friends or as part of a team. My friends and I like going to the movies together, bowling or just hanging out. It’s amazing having friends who love to do the same things I do. I started to train in some martial arts and it has taught me dedication and discipline. I’m an easygoing person who loves meeting new people and making connections. Last year, I faced many challenges that helped me grow and develop skills that I believe will help me excel and stay active during my exchange program. I feel well-prepared for this new adventure and am really excited to experience life in an American culture!

I hope to gain a lot from this exchange program. I want to improve my English, understand more about American culture, and become more independent and open-minded. I look forward to sharing my culture with you and learning about yours in return. I believe this experience will help me see the world from a new perspective and will be valuable for my future academic and career goals. I also want to experience American high school life including sport activities and not only.

Thank you for welcoming me into your home and family. I’m very grateful and excited to make the most of this experience with you. I look forward to creating lasting memories with you learning as much as I can from our time together.

Warm regards and hope to meet you soon,
