Dear host family,

I’m Camilla, I’m 16 years old and I am from Italy. I live in a small town near Milan with my mom, my dad, my older brother Federico and my cat Tamma. We like travelling, skiing and walking in the mountains (where we have had a house since my brother was born), watching soccer or volleyball matches and spending time eating what we cook. I really love all my family, my grandparents, my aunts and uncles and all my cousins. We spend time together especially during the holidays or important moments, like birthdays, because we live in different parts of Milan so seeing each other during the week is very difficult.

I consider myself a jolly, cheerful, altruistic and generous person who tries to give and do the best for others and for herself. But I think also that I’m a private person who doesn’t like to talk about her problems, depending on the situations I find myself in I can be shy.

I attend the third year of high school, I like to study, but sometimes school commitments are really demanding and heavy, but with a litte effort and help I can overcome even these moments. Fortunately, in the first year I met some wonderful people, with whom it has becomes easier to face the most difficult moments.

The most important passion in my life is volleyball, my favourite sport. I have played volleyball since I was 9 years old, but before I started volleyball I did ballet, which I left after 10 years. Leaving ballet was one of the worst thing I’ve done, but starting high school doing two different sports, that took most of my free time, was really hard, so i had to make this decision despite the very strong passion I had.

I really love to listen to music, and I do it especially when I tidy up my room, while I go to school, when I’m a little sad and with friends to have fun and when I’m bored I usually watch movies or TV series.

One of the things I love to do most is go to the stadium with my friends, to watch all the championship matches that my favourite team does not play far from home. That is because seeing my favourite team makes me very happy and carefree.

Another passion that I have is spending time with children, I love be with them because they are funny, lovely, sweet and honest. In fact when I finish school in June, I’m an educator for my church.

I hope that this experience will make me know and love another culture and another lifestyle as I love the Italian one, and I hope to change in better by maturing and becoming aware.
