Hello future host family, my name is Miguel, I am about to turn 16 as of I write this letter.

I am from Brazil, but I currently live in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and have lived here for the last 10 years. I speak Portuguese, English (and Arabic) and am currently learning French in school.

I am currently in grade 10, and I am excited for grade 11 in the USA, I’m eager to learn its culture and traditions as well as to partake in the local community and their activities.

I enjoy being outside, and I love travelling to new and different places, like this year, when me and my dad travelled to Armenia to go skiing, or when my family travelled to London and the Netherlands, or when I went to a school trip to Tanzania.

I have always enjoyed new and exciting experiences, and I think this program would be a great opportunity to do that. I have multiple hobbies that enjoy, such as playing piano, skiing, reading, and doing physical activities, like running, going to the gym and sports.

My favorite subject in school is English, because I enjoy reading, analyzing texts, as well as learning grammar. I find it interesting and
rewarding. I think this program would give me opportunities to learn more academically and to try
out new activities and sports that may not be as common or as available here.
