Dear Host Family,
My name is Aleksandre, and I am from Georgia. I am 15 years old, and I study in the 9th grade now. First, thank you for selecting me and hosting me in your family. I am sure we’ll become good friends, will spend many interesting days together and I am looking forward to meeting you soon!
Let me first tell you about my country, Georgia. Georgia is situated in Eastern Europe, Caucasian region, bordering Turkey, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is a country with population of 3.7 million people and our native language is Georgian. It has a very ancient and unique alphabet; I can teach you how to write Georgian letters and speak a little, so that we can chat. I live in the oldest city in Georgia. Georgians are Christians, it is one of the first countries that received Christianity.
I am an active and easy-going child who loves to talk, have fun and try different activities. I think I am friendly and sociable because it was never a problem for me to find friends in different places and with different people. I love trying something new and growing by learning and getting different experience.
I live with my mother and we have a pet, dog lyly, It is 4 years old. We travel a lot as a family. I visited many different countries and cities; I love traveling and discovering new places. I like cooking very much. During my exchange year I will try to cook something Georgian for you to try. In addition to this, I will tell you about our traditions and holidays that may differ from the ones that you have in America. I love playing sports like tennis and volleyball. I am a member of my school volleyball team. I love my school. Since childhood, I have tried almost every out of school activity: skiing, swimming, playing tennis, volleyball, drawing and other activities, as I am very curious and always want to try something new. I also love watching movies and listening to music. I love going out with my friends and having fun with them at the weekends.
When I found out that I will get a chance to travel to America, live with a host family and study at an American School for 1 year I was super happy, excited, full of emotions and also a little bit worried, because I understand that it may be challenging at times, and I will need to learn a lot. But I am so interested in it and looking forward to it, that I can’t wait for this time to approach! It will be such be a great opportunity for me to live in an American host family, learn about American traditions, customs and history and study at school. It will be an experience of a lifetime for me! I expect that I will learn a lot of subjects at school, join sport clubs and meet new friends and share with them my culture.
