Dear host family,

First of all, I’m Alessia, and I come from Italy. I’m part of a family of five: my parents, my siblings, and me. I have two younger siblings: Francesco, who is 14 (he’s only a year younger than me), and Violetta, who is 10. We love each other so much, and I feel like we have a really special bond. I quarrel especially with my brother, probably because we have two very different characters and we are both teenagers. With my parents, I have two very different relationships: the one with my father is the most difficult, but I’m very grateful for everything he and my mother do for me. With my mother, I have a beautiful relationship; she always understands me, or at least she always tries. As a family, we don’t usually hang out, especially because we have very different routines, but I feel that we are still always together

I consider myself a bit introvert; actually, I feel that my attitude depends on the other person. If I sense that the other is shy or that there’s something refraining them from communicating with me, I tend to be more open and push them. However, if the other person is super extrovert, I tend to be reserved. I find myself to be a very unselfish person. I’m also very sarcastic; indeed, I like to make people laugh. I can also be very empathetic and reliable. I also have some traits to improve, like the fact that sometimes I can seem like a know-it-all person, but I believe that’s just because I can have some strong personality. Others may consider me very pessimistic, but I think I’m simply realistic. I am also quite competitive, but I am also keen on overthinking, even though this helps me stay in touch with reality.

About my interests, I did karate and swimming for several years. I also tried basketball and the gym, but swimming will always be my sport. I unfortunately stopped after Covid, but I still love to swim. Beyond swimming, I’m not a sports person. I also love to cook and bake and I always like to do it with someone. I also love to play board games or cards, even if my siblings don’t want to play with me. I’m interested in politics, and I enjoy debating and exchanging ideas with others.

I listen to a lot of music across various genres, and I’m always open to anything. This is linked to the fact that I love to go to concerts with my friends and experience those types of emotions that only a concert can give you. I’m fascinated by any form of art, and I love to create art through photography. I love capturing moments while also creating something beautiful to see, which is why I try to visit all kinds of museums whenever I have the chance. Lastly, I love to travel and learn new things, even just to expand my mind and knowledge. Additionally, I have things that are very related to my culture, like my favorite foods. In Italy, food is very important; I obviously like pizza and pasta, but I also love tiramisù. Also, I absolutely love Christmas; I honestly think that it is the holiday that brings me back to my childhood.

From this experience, I hope to make new friends and find a new family. I hope to learn a lot, not only at school but also through the people I’ll meet. Moreover, I clearly hope to improve my English. I’d like to be in a family that is open-minded, loving, and actually interested in me.
