LETTER FROM Anna

Anna

Dear future host family,

Thank you very much for taking time to reading my letter. My name is Anna, and I live in Denmark. I am 16 years old and I am in the 10th grade.

I live with my dad and my siblings in a house in a small town. My siblings are 8 years old, and they are twins. They are in the 3rd grade in the local school. My father is a software developer.

Tragically, after a long course of illness with her back, we lost our mother 5 years ago. She was the best mother in the whole world, and we all loved her very much, just as she loved us very much.

But even though I miss her every day, I’m very lucky that I have such a good family that I can talk to when things get difficult.

My father is the best father in the whole world. Even though he is a single father of three children he is very caring, loving and patient. Both me and my siblings appreciate our father very much.

One thing that I think is very special about my little sister Ellen is that she is so creative, she loves to draw, paint or do other creative things at her desk in her room. She also plays soccer and is quite good at it. In addition to being creative, she is also very mature for her age. She likes going to school and has many friends. Ellen is absolutely unique, and I couldn’t wish for a better little sister than her.

Something special about my little brother Christian is that he’s very good at soccer. He plays soccer once a week on the same team as Ellen. He’s also very caring and loving and he’s very good in school. He has a lot of friends. Christian is all his own and he is the best little brother you can get.

I grew up with a grandmother and grandfather who I have always been very close with. My grandmother picks me up every day after school. my siblings and I sleep at their house once a month. I am grateful that I have my grandparents and that they are such a big part of my life.

As a person, I am very caring and loving, I am very brave, and I dare to throw myself into many things. I am good at being positive and seeing the good in people and situations and if I disagree with something, I say my opinion instead of being silent. As a person, I am also good at concentrating on, for example, my school assignments or homework. I am very conscientious and someone you can trust, and I am happy to help where I can.

In my spare time I like to express my creativity through drawing, painting, crocheting and knitting, in fact most things that involve being creative because it gives me a break from my everyday life. When not being creative, I enjoy reading books, and I love spending time with my family and friends.

Sometimes I cook and bake with my father. It is something I really want to get better at. I love to cook and eat sushi. Last year at school I had cooking as an elective subject. That was one of my favourite subjects. Other favourites are English, art, and history.

I am very interested in animals and in my free time I love horseback riding. I have been riding since I was a little child, and I have almost always had my own horse and I have had riding lessons at the local riding school. Until about a year and a half ago I had my own pony. Sadly, it got sick and had to be put down. I have not ridden since because I have been too busy with school. Though, I really want to get into horseback riding again. In the meantime, I do yoga once a week to train my balance and become a bit more agile. Those are skills needed when riding a horse.

I feel that I am a good candidate for the US High-School program because I love to experience new countries and cultures, and I am open to new things. Also, because I not only expect to get from you, but I also want to give of myself. I ‘m exited to show you my culture and where I come from if you like. I also want to be an active part of your family and participate in your activities in everyday life and on special occasions.

I would like to go to the USA because I want to experience the American culture and what life with a family in the USA looks like. It is my hope and dream that I can have a family and some friends on the other side of the world for the rest of my life.

I look forward to meeting you and I am very grateful that you wanted to read my letter.
