Dear host family,

I would like to start this letter by expressing how thankful I am for the time you are taking to read this letter.

First, I’ll tell you a little bit about my family and what I love about them. My mother is very friendly, and she always makes me feel loved and understood. My dad is very adventurous, and he always makes me laugh. Finally, my little brother is very energetic and caring. Additionally, I have a ginger cat and a grey one.

Secondly, I’ll talk about my personality. I’m open-minded, because I enjoy exploring other cultures and opinions about different topics. I’m also a creative person, since I always think in unique ways. I also believe that my strengths are being empathic, loyal and honest. However, I also have some weaknesses that I try to work on. For instance, I tend to overthink things, and I sometimes criticize myself. Lastly, I often have trouble asking others for help. However, with the strengths of responsibility, open-mindedness and independence, I truly believe that I am a good candidate for this program. In addition, taking part in such a program has always been a dream of mine.

Thirdly, I will give you an insight into how I spend my free time. I have many hobbies. For example, reading is one of my favorite ones. I usually read books in English, which has helped me a lot in acquiring new vocabulary. Also, I love to bake. Despite liking to cook savory dishes, I always prefer to bake a sweet treat. Additionally, I love films. I like watching all types of movies: from rom coms to dramas. Tennis is the sport I started playing this year, and I have fallen in love with it. Lastly, I really enjoy learning new languages. I am currently learning French at school, and I would like to learn more languages in the near future. My favorite food is pasta. I like all types of pasta, however, pasta carbonara is my favorite one. Apart from pasta, I also like Chinese food, soup in general, and sandwiches of all kinds. My favorite holiday is Christmas, and my favorite family tradition is going skiing.

What I hope to experience in this program are various things. One of them is the traditions you have here in the United States. Some of them are already present in Europe, but others, for example Thanksgiving, are completely new and exciting to me. In addition, I would also love to meet new and interesting people and hopefully try new things with them. Another thing I would like to improve is English. Despite already having an intermediate level, I would like to learn more advanced expressions and perfect my accent. My goal is to be able to speak fluently and better in English when my program is finished.

Finally, I am immensely grateful for the opportunity I have been given with this program. I am looking forward to starting this experience, which I will remember for my whole life.
