Dear host family,

I am writing this letter so that you can get to know me better. My name is Bendegúz, and I am from Hungary. I live with my family in a house with a garden in Budapest.

There are five of us in my family: my mom, my dad, I have an older sister and a younger sister. We also have a dog and a cat. One of my grandmothers lives in a nearby village. My older sister will finish high school this year, and if all goes well, she will go to university next year.

The school I attend is on the other side of the city, so I have to travel at least an hour every day. I usually take the bus and the metro to school. My school is very small, with about 400 students, and only half of them are high schoolers because my school is also an elementary school. Due to the small number of students, I know everyone there, which is why I have many friends and enjoy going to school. The people in my class are very funny and kind.

I really enjoy sports, which is why I go to gymnastics practice every day. I recently quit competitive sports due to an injury.
On weekends, I usually meet up with my friends, or I stay at home and, if I don’t need to study, I watch movies. I usually watch action movies or sci-fi films. My favorite movies are Marvel films.

I love listening to music, and I like all music genres, so I don’t have a favorite music style. I wear baggy clothes. My favorite food is fruit soup and fried chicken with fries. On Sundays, my family and I go to mass, and we’ve been doing this since I was little. I often play board games with my family, watch movies, and in the summer, we like to go on hikes.

I consider myself a friendly, kind, intelligent, and athletic person.

I heard about this program from my mom, and I really liked the idea of going abroad. The choice of country was clear to me—I chose America because I like the country and want to get to know it better. What I like most about the country is that it is much larger than ours, and I also like how open people are toward others and how direct they are with each other. Additionally, I am drawn to experiencing life outside of Europe.
