Hi future host family,

I am Delphine and I am 14 years old (15 when I leave). I live in the Netherlands, and I am in my freshman year and i will be doing my sophomore year in America. I work at a local supermarket and in the summer on the beach where they rent beach beds and I help to take them out in the morning and gathering them again in the evening.My hobby’s are spending time with my friends, snowboarding, swimming, surfing, watching formula 1, formula 2 and formula 3. I have been playing waterpolo for two years now and i enjoy it a lot.

I have one sister, Phaedra (17) and a dog called Bobby. My parents are divorced and I live half the time with my mom and the other half with my dad. At my dad’s house it’s me my dad (Ward, 52) and his new wife (Debbie) and her son (Hidde,17). At my mom’s house it’s my sister, my mom (Julia, 53) and me.

I try to keep my expectations to a minimum but I really look forward to celebrating thanksgiving, Halloween, 4th of July and to experience the school spirit. And I thought it would be fun to celebrate Dutch holidays with you to share my culture, such as koningsdag (kings day), Sinterklaas (it’s a holiday on the 5th of December celebrating Sinterklaas’s birthday) and Sint-Maarten (on 11 November kids go out and sing songs at peoples front door for candy). I would also like to cook Dutch food such as Dutch pancakes, snert (a type of soup), poffertjes and other things.
