Dear host family, dear host parents,
Thank you so much for considering me as a potential exchange student for your family. My name is Emilia, and I’m currently in the 10th grade in Germany. I am excited about the chance to learn from your family and experiencing life in the U.S. I am very interested in your culture, history, traditions, customs and way of life. In the summer 2023, I went to the U.S. on holidays. Together with my father and my twin sister we spent two weeks in Detroit and Chicago. I was very impressed by the spirit of the people and liked the American way a great deal. After our return I had the idea of doing an exchange year in the U.S. The United States have always been a big thing in my family as my mother was born in Hartford/Connecticut and my father lived in Detroit for three years.
Talking about my family: I have a twin sister called Ophelia with whom I have a really great bond. Since August she is in California doing an exchange year herself. She’s really happy with her host mother and her stories have made me even more excited to start this adventure myself. My mother and father separated four years ago but get along really well. I live with my mother and my father lives in the neighbourhood so I see him often. My grandma is 85 years old and a lovely person, she also lives nearby. My aunt and my cousin live in a big town one hour away from my place. We see each other often as my cousin is the same age like my sister and me. We have a lot of fun together. I am 15 right now and will turn 16 soon.
A little about me: I am a respectful, responsible and open-minded person who values communication and building meaningful connections. I would describe myself as kind and helpful who enjoys spending time with both people and animals. We have a dog (a black mixture of spaniel and poodle) and I love playing with him and going out with him. In my free time I love playing soccer and I have training twice a week. Also I like meeting up with friends, spending quality time with my family and watching movies and series. My favourite classes at school are History and English.
I am looking forward to becoming a part of your family, learning from you and creating lasting memories together. Me and my family really appreciate that you made the decision to be a family for someone from another country. This is not taken for granted and it is very generous of you. I will do my very best to make my stay a huge success and a great time for all of us.
Thank you for considering me as a potential guest. I am eager to hear from you and learn more about your family and the experiences we could share together.
