Dear host family,

my family includes my mom Judith, my brother Thore and my stepfather Andy. Because we live in a very rural area, we have animals such as dogs, cows, ponies and more. I like to do things with my family such as trips to an amusement park, a swimming pool or even just a walk. We also like to have a movie night together in the evening, where we enjoy discovering new films. I have a particularly close relationship with my mom and if I have any problems, I always turn to her first. Aside from the activities with the whole family, we also like to spend time together. I like it best when we cook together because I learn so many new recipes. Maybe I can cook a typical German dish if you would like.

I would describe myself as an open, friendly and funny person. I am a person who enjoys helping others and who values family and friends very much. What also bothers me a bit is my slight shyness around new people. But once I get to know a person, I become the most open person ever. In my free time I like to listen to music, for example I am a big fan of Taylor Swift and One Direction. I also really enjoy reading, writing stories and poems. At school I always find it best to write my own short stories or poems. I really enjoy acting and also take part in theater classes at our school. I don’t mind being on stage and I love taking on other roles.

For example, my favorite foods are casseroles, burgers and pasta. Of all the holidays, Halloween is my favorite and I think it’s a shame that it isn’t celebrated as much in Germany. Nevertheless, I have a Halloween party almost every year where I celebrate with all my friends. I generally like reading scary books and I’m always up for a horror film. I would say getting together at Christmas is my favorite family tradition. I think it’s nice when the whole family gets together and spends Christmas Eve.

From my year abroad I hope to get a lot of new impressions about life and the people in the USA, and to get to know the culture better. I would also like to improve my English more because I want to become fluent at some point. But what I also hope is that we have a nice time together and experience great moments. Finally, I would like to thank you in advance for giving me the opportunity for such a great experience and for allowing me to be part of the family for 10 months.
