Hello future host family, thank you for taking the time to look at my application and considering hosting me. I am Flora, 15 years old and I live in Saarland state of Germany with my family. My family consists of my mom, my dad, my sisters, and our dog (Mika). I like to go shopping with them in the city or to the Christmas market with them at Christmas time. I am also creative and do things like painting ceramics or punch needle.

My good qualities are that I am always polite and helpful. I also treat all living beings with respect. I sometimes find it difficult to keep things tidy because I have so many ideas to fill my day. These include various creative activities, crafting with everyday objects, experiments, hairstyles, make-up and many other things.

In my free time, I like to go dancing, shopping, spend time with my friends or play instruments such as the flute or piano. With my group of 9 friends I do things like making a vision board, baking, cooking, watching movies, shopping or celebrating birthdays. In addition to dancing, I also played soccer for 11 years and was a member of the DLRG (German Life Saving Association) swimming club. I’m also interested in volleyball at the moment because I learned it in PE lessons and really enjoyed it. My favorite food is mashed potatoes or potato casserole. My favorite holiday is Christmas because we always spend Christmas with my grandma and celebrate with the whole family.

I would like to improve my English during my year abroad and experience American high school life. I also see the year abroad as an opportunity to become more independent and live more autonomously. I want to master new challenges and grow from them. I also want to meet new people and experience what life and culture is like in a different family. I am looking forward to getting to know American holidays and celebrations and to celebrate them with you. I look forward to getting to know you.
